The King’s Dash quilt is a modern variation on the traditional Churn Dash block.
This was the first quilt I designed and planned out before cutting into any fabric. Before this all of my projects were designed by arranging fabric on the floor, sewing a little, rearranging, sewing a little more, and so forth.
It is also the quilt that taught me the miserable importance of proper tension. As soon as I finished the quilting on it I laid the quilt out on the bed to admire. When I sat down I heard the pop pop pop of stitches breaking. I serged the edges and used it on my bed for a full year before attempting to re-quilt it.
A little at a time, I worked on giving this quilt the stitches it deserves and almost 2 years after I started it I finally put the binding on. The old broken stitches are still in there, slowing popping and falling out.
It is the most used and most loved quilt in my house.
